Who is now at the helm of pop music?
Back in the sixties, there was a British Rock invasion and in the eighties, there is also a similar British Rock Invasion. During those eras, British pop literally dominated pop music around the world. What has happened since then? Who is now in charge of the world of pop music?

Everything is different now because of the impact of the internet. Not to mention the commercialization of just about everything. Yes, the major labels and corporations like Clear Channel are mega-forces, but with file sharing and illegal downloading running rampant on an international level, the stakes are different. The whole dynamic is different than anything seen in the past.
