Christian Country Music-Soothe Your Mind, Body And Soul

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Country Christian music has certainly evolved a lot since it started to move out of the walls of the church. Originally, this type of music is only performed with musical instruments during regular church occasions. But faithful musicians eventually learned to in corporate lyrics and vocals into the hymns. And soon, the modern Christian music we now know came to be.

Actually, it’s been around five decades ago when this type of religious music found its way into the shelters of the general public. The very first musicians who paved the spirituality into the music industry were, of course, questioned with the sincerity of their intentions.

They have been questioned and criticized for using the music of God to create money. But to the critics misperceptions, this is the other way around. They are definitely using their talents and skills to display and spread the name of God to the world. One way or another, music has definitely become one way of reaching out to the hearts of the people.

Just like the conventional form of music, Christian music was molded in different kinds of genres: Hip-Hop, Gospel, Rock, Soft Rock, Pop and Country. Contemporary genres such as pop and country music are the very first to be used. Dating back as early as the 1960′s, these were then referred to as the Jesus music because of their religious inclination.

By the early years of the 1990′s the Christian music has become widely klnown and loved nby the people. Today, there are lots of available beats that musicians actually incorporate to their music depending to the preference of the listener. Hip-hop, rock and soft rock are the ones uysed and preferred for up tempo music. Gospels on the other hand, focuses on the listener’s soul exceptional insights about the messages of God.

Today there has ben a wide spread grace of the Lord as you can easily listen to the musioc of country Christian music by simply clicking on the button on your mp3 and iPod. Artists and bands that you can use are catually available in a variety. These artists are Daniel Ray, Lady Dameron, Phillip Paris, Randy Travis, The Statler Borthers, Jade Sholty, Glen Campbell, and so much more.

That is why, next time you feel the need to soothe your ears, try to soothe your heart and soul as well with the help of country Christian music.

This article is brought you by Mark, the pianist in their music ministry. Also worth checking out these christian games.

Bandcamp – A Great Way To Sell Your Music

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

I’ve recently come across Bandcamp.com and I’m impressed with the service it provides for artists/bands (and for music fans for that matter.)
It lets bands sell their music as downloads so that the bands themselves keep all of the profit from those sales. Screw the record labels. It’s the artists that should be making money [...]

Podcast #066: Phish, Best of Big Cypress Improv

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Our illustrious Mr. Whitperson was feeling a bit under the weather today, but he had some time to put together a rocking podcast to pay homage to the 10 year anniversary of Phish’s Big Cypress NYE2000 celebration down in Florida, easily one of the most important concerts of the decade. Love it.

I’ve mentioned here a few times before how much I like AmazonMP3 (I think it’s way better than ITunes) for purchasing music downloads. The selection is outstanding and I like that the mp3 quality is better than it is on ITunes and that you don’t have to use ITunes as your player (I prefer Winamp) [...]

Live Blog: Gov’t Mule @ The Beacon Theatre 12/31/09

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Well I’m going to give it a shot again this evening. All the standard disclaimers apply – I’m going to get songs wrong (or more likely, not be able to identify them) particularly during the 2nd set. Please do not take the ‘live’ list as gospel. This time I’m going to avoid using my phone until I walk into the Beacon to reserve as much battery-power as I can. Pictures will be added once I’m home from the show. Have a happy and safe NYE everyone!

Setlist: Phish @ AAA, Miami, FL 12/30/09

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Phish played another amazing show last night in Miami. The third night of the four-night run will go down in the record books as Phish played their 242nd unique song this year, which breaks the previous record of 240 in 1998. The band is clearly feeling confident as they end a super strong 2009 tonight. I’m jealous for my friends that are there attending, but thanks to the streamers I’ve gotten to catch a lot of this action live, including the absolutely nasty “Back on the Train” that went down last night. Kudos, Phish. You’re officially back. Like, 1000% back.

Setlist: Phish @ AAA, Miami, FL 12/30/09

Set 1: Soul Shakedown Party, Runaway Jim, Jesus Just Left Chicago, Dixie Cannonball[1], Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Corrina, What’s the Use?, Tela, Gone[2], Rocky Top, Chalk Dust Torture, David Bowie

Set 2: Sand, The Curtain With, Lifeboy, Back on the Train[3] > Wading in the Velvet Sea, Hold Your Head Up > Love You[4] > Hold Your Head Up, Free, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Run Like an Antelope[5]

Encore: Frankenstein[6]

[1] Phish debut
[2] Debut
[3] Extended jam with hints of Limb by Limb
[4] Audience member Rich on vac
[5] Multiple Boogie On teases
[6] Page on keytar

Notes: Gone was a debut, and Dixie Cannonball was a Phish debut. Back on the Train featured an extended jam including hints of Limb by Limb. During Love You, Fishman mentioned Trey’s announcement on December 28, 2009 that it was Fishman’s last vacuum solo “of the aughts,” so he announced that he needed “someone dressed like me” to do it, brought audience member Rich onstage to do the solo, then gave him the vac! Antelope included numerous Boogie On teases. Frankenstein featured Page on keytar. Corrina was played for the first time since February 24, 2003 (100 shows) and Tela was played for the first time since November 24, 1998 (235 shows). This gig featured ten songs not previously performed in 2009 inclusive of two debuts; 2009 features more unique songs (242) than any other year in Phish’s history, beating out 1998 by 2… so far!

Stereogum's 50 Most Downloaded MP3s Of 2009

The purest year-end music list would be a playcount of the tunes you listened to most, and not the carefully sculpted, self-consciously eclectic 1-10s we end up reading. We know you’re as sick as we are of parsing critics’ picks, so here’s at least one countdown where you won’t find Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, or Dirty Projectors in the Top 10. That’s because the following fifty songs are ranked via the number of times someone clicked and downloaded them from our servers, and nothing else. It’s a list that finds Julian Plenti feeling pretty good about himself. Same goes for Rain Machine, Asobi Seksu, Handsome Furs, and our CMJ lineup. Of course, only you can tell us how many times you actually played the tunes after they left our nest.
