New Ted Leo – “Even Heroes Have To Die”

On Friday we noted Ted Leo’s much anticipated and ostensibly hardcore-influenced Matador debut was going to be titled The Brutalist Bricks. That came straight from the Jersey dude’s mouth when he also let us know:

[I]t’s 13 songs, some of which we’ve been playing for a little while, and some of which are completely new. There’s some overflow, too, so I’m sure we’ll try and find something to do with extra tracks.

You’ve heard a couple of those 13 songs, “Last Days” and an acoustic “One Polaroid A Day.” Now you can take a listen to a proper studio track, “Even Heroes Have To Die,” while you check out the handsome album art, which made me think of Today’s Active Lifestyles until I realized I was color blind. The song? Plenty of lyrical punch and more than a few “oh ohhh”‘s ripe for a fist pump or three.
