Following the Best Music Charts

American Top 40, Billboard, MTV, Rick Dees Weekly Top 40there is no shortage of charts that rank music. But which one should you follow? The choice is really up to you.

The Billboard chart is the way by which a song is judged by American standards although by no means does this imply it is better than the others. Songs are ranked based on the sales and airplay they get. A Hot100 board is decided by the total sales and the amount of airplay a song receives. The songs on Billboard are categorized into different genres with some songs crossing from one genre to another. The first song to debut on Billboard Hot 100 was in 1957 and continues to date. Billboard is grouped into categories that include the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Pop, Billboard Country, and other genres.

American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest is another immensely popular music chart. Originally hosted by Casey Kasem and counting down the top Billboard hits, American Top 40 now counts down songs with the most airplay and based on Mediabase. While American Top 40 is entertaining, it is not as definitive as Billboard in how it arrives at its ratings.

Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 is another chart countdown that has been around for a long time. Rick Dees originally hosted the American Top 40 before being replaced with Ryan Seacrest. This is another good chart, but still not as authoritative as Billboard.

There is no shortage of music charts around the world that you can follow. MTV, for example, has charts for best music videos. There are charts for almost every genre. The sheer number of charts to follow can become overwhelming.

As mention on the past, the advertisements that is given are raised to the top of the charts. Performers are good to be ranked on, specially in terms of musics.

If you are looking for music from all over the world, then there are music charts which list out this music; they also have charts which are listed based on voting; there are also charts which are based in sales and airplay.

The reason you follow charts decides the best one for you. People following a chart for commercial performance of a song would opt for ranks according to sales e.g Billboard whereas for following a chart for rankings in terms of radio play people will follow one which ranks songs according to airplay such as Billboard or American top 40.

Regardless of what chart you choose to follow, music and its ranking is all a matter of opinion. A song can be number one or number 100 and if you like it that is all that matters. Unless you have a monetary stake in the songs performance, choosing which chart to follow is much like choosing your music, its all a matter of personal taste.

Is there such a thing as a free music download? The person who stated “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” may have rethought their position if they had had access to the internet, for free music anyway.

The answer is yes and no. Yes, you can get free music but you might not always be able to find the most popular music of the day for free and if you do you might want to think twice before downloading it because of copyright laws.

So with that being said, if you want to get free music downloads legally there are places you can look. Many social networking sites feature up and coming musicians looking to get their music out to the public. You can sample the music and if you like it download it for your personal use. Simply use one of the many search engines available to search for social networking sites that feature new music.

If you know how to search for social networking sites, you may be interested in searching for music as well. There are many sites that are like music search engines’ devoted to just that. Try typing free music in to any search engine to get started.

If you follow the music charts you might find that your favorite artists are giving away downloads. Check the record chart websites and see if there are any new songs that are available for free download. Some artists have decided to allow listeners to download some of their music to prevent them from illegally downloading songs.

You can also find music downloads available through radio station websites. Your local stations will sometimes offer playlists that you can download to your computer or MP3 player. Browse several different stations websites, even if you dont regularly listen, you might find some good tracks.

In addition to checking radio web pages and musical charts, try going directly to the artist’s web page or social-networking site. A bit of info may be required but it is worth the trouble to get free music when it is available.

Check out retail MP3 sites. Occasionally they will offer a selection of music free. This is to introduce artists and entice shoppers to buy more of the same artist.

Check where the music listeners are getting the music from, make a note of all those locations where you get the music for free and update it in your blog, to get more from the people who views your blog.

One way of downloading free music is by using peer-to-peer and bit torrents but they are little riskier as some torrents have spies set up which keeps a log of the visitors and the activity performed. So the visitors might be caught on the basis of illegal downloading of music.

So, are you able to download free music? Certainly, as you have found out, free music is accessible since it just takes an exploration. There are a variety of online sites that give out their goodies once you discover them. Use key words that are broad and simplify them while exploring until you find the search results, you can try an alternative search engine if you fail to find them. Keep listening to gratis melodies.

Where Can You Watch Free Music Videos?

Friday, February 20th, 2009
by Amy Nutt

The Internet is a treasure trove for music lovers. You can listen to music online at streaming radio websites, you can download your favorite songs and download music videos at many, many websites, and you can even see free music videos at many different places. If you are interested in watching some free music videos, where should you go? Here is some advice to help you find free music videos online.

Figure out What You Want to Watch

This may seem like a given, but the first step towards finding a music video to watch is to think about the artists, songs, and type of music that you would like to watch. Do you have a favorite artist? Is there a particular genre of music that you prefer? The answers to these questions will help guide your search as you look for free music videos. If there is something specific you are looking for, you may want to write down some of these ideas, because you can use them as search terms.

If you are unsure, you can check out the lists of new music on popular media sites. If an artist has a new album coming out, chances are there are a few music videos from it as well. These are often free to view, because they help sell the album, which is what the artist’s ultimate goal is. Once you have your ideas, it is time to start searching.

Check the Artist’s Site

One of the first places to go when looking for free music videos to watch, but not necessarily to download, is the artist’s website. Again, these are great marketing tools, so artists will often post them to help promote their albums.

Check your favorite social networking website. Your artist may have a fan club or profile page that you can access. If so, chances are very high there will be a free music video or two that you can access.

Often these sources do not allow you to download the video. They are simply to be viewed on the website. If you want a resource to let you download the videos, you will have to keep looking.

Do an Online Search

Remember your list of artists or albums? Go to your favorite search engine and search for those terms along with “free music video.” You will find many excellent resources in this manner.

Use caution when visiting some sites that say they have “free music videos,” however. There is sometimes a catch. Make sure that they are truly free, not free after you pay for a membership.

Blogs, File Sharing, and Social Networking Sites

Many people post videos on blogs and their social networking profile pages. If you know of other music fans who have blogs or profile pages, visit them to see if there are new videos posted.

If you find a music blog that posts videos frequently, use a newsreader or RSS feed to get alerts when they post new updates. This will help you see the newest videos as soon as they come out.

File sharing networks can also be a source for music videos. While these tend to focus on MP3 files, they will have videos from time to time. Be wary of spyware or viruses that may be connected to these downloads, however.

A Word of Warning

You may find free music video sites that allow you to view music videos that you do not have the right to view. Make sure you only access videos legally. Remember, these are copyrighted works of art, and viewing them illegally is the same as stealing from your favorite artist. A legitimate site will clearly post that the videos are provided legally free of charge, so look for this information as you search for sites to view music videos for free.

Many people are getting free music from the internet and because the ability to download music is becoming more common they are figuring out that it is getting easier every day.

However, there is still an argument about the idea of websites which offer free music downloads. Many of the sites which offer free music downloads claim they have a wide selection of music, when in fact they may be limited as to what they have to offer.

It is common to question how a site is capable of providing many songs for nothing. Although they do get some advertising revenue that normally takes a long time to take off.

Free music download sites must make money somehow and they can do that in many ways. Some web sites use advertising to stay afloat however, they still have to pay royalties but they have been improved over time and have enough cash flow to keep going.

The most recently rolled-out websites however are taking a rather less positive approach. No doubt you have encountered flash banners claiming that, for completing a few forms, you will be rewarded with a free laptop or gaming system. Well, this enticement is now being utilized with free music downloads as the prize.

They claim if you participate in the offers of their sponsors you will be allowed free music downloads. However, you will find participating in the sponsor offers will require a significant amount of money before you will be allowed to visit the sites.

It is easy to see that free music downloads may not be all its cracked up to be, and you should be positive before signing up for any site that you are dealing with a good company that is following through with the legal issues, and that is actually credible enough to deliver the promised service.

Fighting Music piracy, Napster and other websites similar are now allowing a 100% legal music downloads and still free to join. This is the future of free, legal music downloading.

The ability to download legal music is increasing in popularity due to new MP3 players. This digital revolution is what has driven the ability to purchase music that can be downloaded legally. There is fear of prosecution and that makes people believe they can no longer get music for free. This perception has led to an increase in the industry. Although some people still attempt to download music illegally they often face the music.
